Psychological Evaluation

At Rocky River Behavioral Pediatrics, we evaluate each new patient and family by conducting an interview with parent(s)/guardian and an interview and/or observation of the child. Our evaluation may include completion of self, parent, and teacher report forms. These forms are used to gather additional information than what may be gained from an interview alone. This allows for more thorough assessment of attentional, emotional, and/or behavioral difficulties, from multiple raters in different settings.

Evaluation may be requested due to:


Medical needs
  • Diagnosis of a new medical condition
  • Poor compliance with a medical regimen
  • Chronic pain (including headaches, stomach aches, and conditions frequently associated with pain such as colitis, fibromyalgia, or juvenile rheumatoid arthritis)
  • To improve coping with medication side effects (i.e., nausea, vomiting, fatigue)
  • Assistance with school re-entry and/or getting a 504 Plan
Developmental concerns
  • Toileting difficulties
  • Temper tantrums
  • Aggressive behavior (biting, hitting, kicking)

Anxiety (worry may be related to a specific situation, such as fear about something bad happening to a parent or loved one, or occur in many situations or about many things)

Academic concerns (change in performance or questions about intellectual functioning)

Social difficulty

Family tension
